The celebration was marked today by many ecclesiastical celebrations starting with that led by the Romanian Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Archbishop of Bucharest, Metropolitan of Muntenia and Dobrogea (S and SE regions of Romania) and Regent of the Throne of Caesarea and Cappadocia.
More then 2,2 million Romanians are celebrating the Virgin's birth due to the fact that they bare her name. This celebration is the first since the opening of the Christian Orthodox year and in Romania it is thought that this event marks the end of the Summer and the beginning of the Fall.
